Left 4 Dead!

Zombies! To the roof!

So the story is.. well.. I don't know what the story is, but you basically have 4 survivors, against a horde off mindless zombies! For anyone who's played the Zombie mod for CS:S, it just seems like a better version of that, and by better, I mean new maps, new skins (Not just the Zombies from Hl2), new weapons.. the only thing not new is the concept!

I can't wait 'til this comes out! And the multiplayer looks awesome! Can you picture four of us THNers on a server against an inumerable amount of zombies (which can be controlled by real people who join the server)! And there isn't just A zombie, there's a wide variety for example:

The tank! RAR! He can overturn cars, throw hulks of concrete, and players get the opportunity to play as him as he spawns every few minutes. I'm already looking forward to throwing stuff at Diablo! :D

The Boomer! This chap is one of the bosses.. and playable by us! The boomer gets close to the survivors and.. BOOM! There's acid and corpses everywhere!

Ofcourse, I assume there's more. Like a grunt perhaps, something fast and mêlée orientated with the abilities to throw rocks! :D

It'd be cool if they included vegetarian zombies.. "Grrrrraaaaaains! Grrrrrrraaaaaaaaaains!".

Anyway, trailer. It's short, but you get the idea *Boom* *Reload* *Run*.

I for one, can't wait for this release! :D

Saw this in last months PCG, looks nice, can't wait to try it. The market really lacks PC Zombie games that are on par with modern games graphics wise.

Sorry to resurrect, but Ronin wanted more information.
You can read information on their website, but things are still relatively under wraps.

There will be the hunter ... fast agile and well (jumping out of the shadow and pinning a survivor to the ground untill he is shot off oder the survivor is dead)... deadly ^^

And the smoker ...
which is a oversized human shaped chameleon using his tongue to grab and pull survivors into the deadly shadows :)

Oh and btw concerning the boomer: His acid is a bait for thousands of npc zombies that will simply swarm any survivor who had contact with it (but only fr a ceratain amount of time)

:) I hope I was able to complete you lacks of undead information ^^

Saw a bit of this on Playr, Bravo's latest computer review program and it looked good. If you shoot a car it can set off its alarm and all the zombies know where you are :D.

From the Gametap preview, it looks like the game is fairly hard and somewhat dynamic in the way it spawns monsters, which is cool and should improve playability. And if it turns out to be a decent coop game, as we hope it might, then we can hope they release a Linux server for it and we can host on Promethius.

I wonder... Does shooting the car trigger them to go to the one who shot it, or the car itself? If the latter is so it could be used as a decent diversion tactic!

According to Eurogamer, Left 4 Dead has a European release date of the 7th of November. Unfortunately, they're going up against Gears of War 2, released on the same day. That said, if you're releasing on the run up to holiday season I guess there's no avoiding that.

It's reminding me a lot (unsurprisingly) of Zombie Panic. Which is free. I haven't seen anything MASSIVE which will make me want to spend a fair amount of money for it seeing as ZP is free... Still, we shall see!

For me, it show a fair few signs of being free. The barricading mechanic is painful to use. The game crashes for me probably twice in a two hour play session. There is far too much crouch-jumping required to get around. I frequently get stuck on a fallen shelf unit. Sure, they're all really niggles not disasters but they add up. I'd pay to have those kinks ironed out.

Zombie Panic Source is a game that doesn't really require teamwork. The only teamwork I've really properly seen is people barricading themselves in rooms. You could survive without needing the help of a team mate. Left 4 Dead is pure teamwork. If you don't co-operate you die.

I remember reading that Valve are trying to make L4D the next CSS so expect something big.

"BOOM HEADSHOT!"
"OMG AWP NUUB!"

What'd be very interesting, is surfing in L4D.
