Played a fair amount of matches.
If you guys ever have any questions, I'm regularly on TS with Crystal and Gribs.

I've been playing a fair amount of games with the guys on TS. There's a fair amount of us. I'm not pr0 but I've a decent idea of what I'm doing and can talk a few of you guys through it some time I'm not busy/drunk.

Got four of us for a versus humans match this evening: me, Trax, Ange and DB. Amazingly we won, even with a random on our team, though both DB and Ange did excellent work as Weaver and Lina respectively. Trax seemed okay on an unfamiliar Tinker and I just about held my own as Brewmaster. Random Earthshaker filled out our team, versus Viper, Jaikiro, Dragon Knight, Spirit Breaker and Enigma, the latter of which I've not seen played before. Good game all round. More to come.

Heh Ronin you sound like a sports recap in the newspaper :P

'twas fun :) I suspect the opposing team didn't really know what they were doing, though - much like us, as we had rather hard time wrapping things up in the end. That's mechanics that I could call out in LoL, but not in DOTA, I'm afraid. Need more matches under my belt for that :)

Sorry I wasn't around last night. I was having a few drinks. I'll be around this evening if a few of you want a game.

Heh, yeah... stay away from Invoker for a while. What's you guyseseses favourite hero? Mine is probably Axe.

Dragon Knight. Flexible, powerful, semi-carry (though he'll get spanked by a real hard carry). Only real disadvantage is that he's melee, except when he's a dragon.

That said, I had fun with Nature's Prophet the other day and if I can stop blocking DB from doing useful stuff when I throw down that ring of trees then he might also be a contender.

Meepo is the king of micro.... Not even touched it.Magnus is fun, very tanky so can take some hits, plus has a good stun and ulti.

Crystal maiden good support to learn at first, warlock is quiet fun support too.

Which game modes are most popular or rather which do people play in party play?

Well, when we're practising against bots, we tend to go for All Pick, but then spin to a random hero that we've not played already (as opposed to randoming a hero, which might be one you already know).

Versus humans, though, Single Draft. Only way to keep mid skill players from pwning low skills just by being able to choose their favourite combinations.

I've been playing least played, single draft and free play (or w/e its called). Found that with complete freedom one team always pwned the other as you suggest.

The game mode best suited for learning the game would have to be random draft. All the better players play it and you're likely to play a role/hero you haven't played before.
Picking US East as your server is also a better option than any of the EU servers. Although the US East server still has a lot of russians, it isn't quite as bad as the EU servers, which are in my opinion near unplayable.

Also, getting close to my 500th win.

What makes them unplayable? Working fine here.
Dota is a game that is heavilly based on teamwork. Teamwork requires communication, well, if you want to play this game correctly that is. The problem with the EU servers is that most players there do not speak English, that can become quite frustrating. And it happen to be that most, if not all, of these people happen to be from Russia, hence the hatred towards Russians playing on any other than the Russian servers.

And they're generally just god awful at the game.
