Looks like pure Win. Seems like the SWG style of combat (Aim and shoot, then use abilites.)

Release date is end of September, I'll be Defo giving it a go, been hoping someone got off their arses and attempted a 40k MMO for years now.

Opinions?

I'll want to go Chaos, but with Bloke going Marines, I think i might try and go with what the majority of THN choose. (So we can all play together.)

One of my tests of an MMO that will last with me is whether Rojaws would play it with me 'cause they tend to be such time hogs, so ability to duo with her is important. The one way I can think to convince her to try it would either be if she could play Orks or if, somehow, she could be a Dreadnaught.

For my part, I'm concerned that so many people would end up playing Space Marines that you'd wonder why they hadn't won already.

That said, I'll keep an eye on this because I'm a big fan of Dawn of War and 40K in general.

The Spaz marines annoy me the point that if given the choice I will always go on an opposing faction just so I can kill them.

I loved WHO and if carps picks this up I guarantee I will.

You do know that most opposing faction to "Spaz Marines" is "Chaos Spaz Marines" right?

Of those, Orks or Imperium for me. And I'm tending towards Orks, despite their stupid names for things. All in all, the Orks feel like they have the most heart. None of this "for the Emperor". Much more, "Someone's taken a point. Oh look, is meee!". :)

Eldar all the way! Who's with me? >.>
Marines tbh. Imperial guard's good too.
I loved playing Necrons but for obvious reasons those are out of the question. Tau I couldn't get my head around - I mean, all this high tech AND dinosaurs?!

But oh yes, I am very interested and will be trying this out absolutely :)

Orks or Imperial Guard (The 2 more squishy races, tbh.) since people will spam the Marine classes to hell and back, Sadly. They need someone to fight!

FOR DA WAAAAGH! 'n stuff.

Few extra things, been digging around google for the past 30 mins.

"The game will feature relatively in-depth fire-fights with player-formed squads as well as cover and flanking mechanics, within the MMORPG format. However, being true to the setting, war and battles will be a big feature of Warhammer 40,000 Online and Vigil Games are promising to deliver battlegrounds of epic proportions. Controllable vehicles have not been confirmed, but the developers have said that they are aware of how important vehicles are to the setting."

RED WUNS GO FASTA'!

"Details about characters are still largely unknown and what's been said so far is only that there will be no non-combat classes in the game, as that would not fit with the background, and that the characters will be highly customizable with things like weapons, books, scrolls and chains hanging from their armour."

Thats good. Customizable Armour, wouldn't be Orc Like if you didn't have a heads hanging off your belt.

Also, anyone got any idea about what they mean by "Non-combat Classes"?

"Vigil Games’ General Manager David Adams mentions being able to visit "cities (of all scales, types and sizes), exotic alien temples, Chaos shrines, deserted battlefields, mysterious ruins, ancient structures, drifting hulks in space, etc..." and that they will be populated with all manners of non-player characters."

GENESTEALERS!

"Grouping with other players will not be required to advance through the game although it will be beneficial for tackling both the harder PvE and PvP content of the game."

Some sort of raid system maybe? Hopefully better then WAR's failure of an instance system.

Stoled from Teh Wiki.

Would like to -NOT- see World Eaters as a playable class though. I mean. Stupidly blood driven maniacs carrying Chainsword Axes that go "ADNSMDPOMOPSMDAPOSMD" and slice you in half in a single blow? Rather OP, IMO.

Termie armour will be inevitable though.

Gief Tau as playable race, i want mah railgunz!!

as for non-combat characters they mean healers and possibly tanks, Sounds like they want all players actively fighting instead of having healers standing off to one side.

I can see it working, they can still have healers like apothecaries, but do it in such a way that they still concentrate on combat

Ah, Fair enough. And Tau as playable race would be rather....Overpowered, wouldn't you think? Since their guns are the strongest in the universe, plus having the longest range.. (Before you say "they don't have the strongest guns" find me one with stronger BASIC guns. Yes. I mean the Pulse Rifle / Carbine.)

Pft, Eldar are much cooler than Tau! :P

I'd love Dark Eldar as a playable race too! ;)

Dark Eldar are a better idea then Tau, really. Since their guns are average, and they move rather fast.

I'd say that they're taking the same sort of approach as WAR for this. All the classes can get in a fight, at least to an extent, and within their various paradigms of combat. I take this to mean that crafting will be a sideline, as in WAR, and not a major part of the game. I don't believe that they'll be excluding healers but the Space Marine Medic, for example, has always been in the thick of the fight.
