Daemon hunter basic troops can carry and wield Storm Bolters as if they were pistols, while also also carrying a halberd that makes them S6, they are haxx . If they wanted to make marines as close to the lore of 40k as possible they would have to base them on space marines in the inquisitor games.

*Took you off ignore after ronins moderation*

They have Storm Bolters built into their wrist armour though.

Is this discussion going anywhere, lol.

True. According to the lore around space marines i have no doubt that they could hold a bolter in a single hand, Terminators hold stormbolters in one hand. I think its mainly due to the fact its far easier to aim and kill holding a bolter two handed instead of trying to look cool and duel wield :p though seeing a marine duel wield boltguns would be fairly cool

For those who don't know.

Rather badly painted, but It's still a picture of the Bolter.

Couple of updates on this matter.

http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Heavy_Bolter

"also known as the "Back Breaker" or the "Bruiser" by the crew who have to carry it because of its great weight"

Bolterlourd.png

Mounted Heavy Bolter (Belt Fed.)

Heavyboltermarine.JPG

Marine carrying it (Note the stupidly large backpack, carrying nothing but ammo for it.)

On a side note, More proof would be the Bolter, being able to be used 1H by a Marine (Tabletop there is a rule somewhere, might be chaos. *shrug* that makes the model able to carry it 1H like a Bolt Pistol.), and guardsmen (Or Gangs in the case of Necromunda) would have to use both hands to even carry it.

That is an Astartes pattern heavy bolter, most non-space marine pattern bolt weapons do not use the full calibre rounds as the recoil alone would shatter bones and break arms.

Within the Dark Heresy/Rogue Trader 40k RPGs there are man portable versions of most heavy weapons though they don't live up to the true devastation or Astartes pattern, or even guard weapon team versions.

Another thing to factor in are suspensor bolts, though these hark back to the days of Space Crusade, which allow a weapon to become virtually weightles, but at least massively reduced in mass.

I am a HUGE 40k nut, so i can't stay away from this thread :P

Yeah, but how would Ammo change the weight of the normal gun?

Think its a reference to the Ammo weighing relitivly nothing, meaning the guardsmen can carry the weight of the gun - and gets the ammo weight free. Still gonna be a heavy gun though, i hope he's eaten his weetabix.

Looking at the site though, it gives the "Human" side as Imperium. Not Imperial Guard or Space marines as seperates.

So prob gonna see: Imperial Guardsmen - as your support - artillary, tanks etc
Space Marine - As your hard core trooper
and Grey Knight - as you close combat specialist

Would love to play as a full harnessed tech marine though! Everyone do the robot!

Odds are it will be: Tactical Marine, Devestator, Imperial Trooper, and Possibly Guardsman Sargent?

Especially seeing as Grey Knights (Demon hunters) are not uber common (Like they would be if they were playable.) since they are Inquisitorial (And as such, only report to the Inquisitors, nobody else can really tell them what to do apart from the higher ranks of Marine commanders, since Guard commanders are more or less controlling meatshields.)

After looking at the Trailer in uber hard detail:

Tactical Marine
Assualt Marine (Saw some with 2H weapons. So possibly might have the chance to use a 1H + Pistol or a 2H?)
Guardsman

Boyz

Heratic
Chaos Marine
Khorne Berzerker (World Eater.)

Is what i saw (Or thought i saw.)

Wish they would release a class list already. I want to decide what i want to be. :( I'm uber leaning towrds Orks though, since Marines will obviously be spammed to hell and back (Since people go "LOL MARINE GIMMIE!" and they are one of the most played races of the tabletop version.)

Dunno if you heard of this guy, but he seems to of done a good Analysis of the trailer (Just put up with his accent. :p):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ge4UzSP0Q04&feature=related

He has pointed out somthing i didn't notice in there. A Tech Priest fighting with a Nurgle Demon Prince.

Maybe it really will be like Guard + Marines and Chaos + Orks? Instead of Imperium and everyone else?

Grey knights appeared in Dawn of War, they are uncommon in 40k, but they tick lots of balance boxes. Close combat, Psycher, Ranged.
Spesh as Eldar will obviously have at least on Psycher, same with Chaos i'd of though. Orks have the weird boyz.
Just going on MMO building, theres normally an equivilant set of classes for all groups.

Predicting.
Imperium:
Space Marine - To go - Assault, Tactical or devestaor
Guardsman - To go, Kaskirn, Heavy or a sergent class for support
"A Psycher" (Librarian, Grey knight) - To go Assault, Support or ranged

Eldar:
Warlock - to go Support, Assault or Ranged
Aspect warrior (not specified until ?talents?) - Dire avenger, Banshee or Dark reaper
Another - possibly scout class or something.

Chaos:
Chaos Marine - Assault, Tactical or devestaor
Khorne Bezerker - Kill, Kill or Kill!
Sorcerer - Assault, Support, Ranged

Orkz:
Boy - assault, ranged, loota
Nob - assault, stomp or bash edz!
Weird boy - Support, ranged, assault

Prediction isn't overly balanced and there could be more than three classes, just follow the trend of assault, ranged and support and it can't be far off.

I assume if each race WILL have a Pysker, it will prob be a Librarian or a Pysker (Imperial Guard one.)

and Eldar "Scout" or "Light" would prob be "Ranger".

Other then that that accually seems like a really decent guess on classes.

Lets hope they are both good, 'eh?

I'm hoping for more on the 40k MMO personally. Since the KOTOR one seems to have a "buddy" system (Like GW and Henchmen). Though It's not a Horrible idea, It's one i don't particually like (Since you could look away, your "FReind" dies, then you're buggered if It isin't soloable.)

I'm fairly happy to experience the lore/game from any angle :) The only thing I'd shy away from are Eldars, though, as they always seemed gay and stupid to me :D

EDIT: Leaving marines aside might be a good idea, given, too many kiddos playing them and all. Frankly what I would most enjoy is the Imperial Guard... Or an apothecary :)

But if we are all planning on different factions, how? I don't want to be Marines honestly because there will be too many of them. :(

Yeah theres gonna be far too many SM that we'd be drowning in them. I vote orks. As much as i love chaos orks are just more fun to play.

I'll definitely be wanting to play Eldar if I ever get this game, there's nothing gay or stupid about them. :P

Definitely not interested in Space Marines there will be so many of them and get far too much attention.

Chaos are pretty cool, Orks are awesome too.

My preferences for factions would be: Eldar, Orks, Chaos. . . . . . . . . . Imperium.
