Following on what the devs have said:

There are going to be some elements of loot, economy, and crafting.

...on an individual level, which is not to be confused with:

The Campaigns give agencies an opportunity to actually gain territory, construct facilities, produce or steal resources, and compete in an approximately 45 day competition to construct a protected complex for your allies before your rivals do. In this way, your character actions affect the outcome of a single mission (like an FPS), the career of your agent (like an RPG); AND the long-term Campaign goals of your agency (like a giant strategy game).

...that relates to unique territories that you can win for your Agency in a series of missions and smaller 10v10 or so PvP matches.

lets hope they dont bribe you too hard or you could save us alot of money :P

Or conversely give THN a big advantage on launch with your insider brain meats!

Not quite, as the Closed Beta hasn't been released yet - it's ETA is sometime in June - I'm guessing first half. I just received a guaranteed spot due to one of their promotion contests.

But yes, I'm afraid I will be under NDA when I play. Still, the devs divulge quite a bit of info themselves as do, occasionally, the alpha testers and I assume this will only get more loose in the beta. So yes, I will tell you stuff, even if not all of it. After all, I am meant to bring people in ;)

Oh and just a note - if there are any RTS/TBS/Squad game fans here, GA could and should interest them. The strategic level of the game is going to be extremely important - vital for success of any particular Agency and/or Alliance will stand upon it - as will tactics in particular encounters. So yeah, you don't have to be a FPS monkey that can headshot people from 100yds away using a sling made of thong, you can be the Chief Strategist or Base Raid leader, honing your intellect and having subordinate soldiers (read FPS monkeys) do your bidding.

Just a thought based on this thread :)

Since I don't think just editing my previous posts would mark this thread as unread for you (or would it? tell me), I'm gonna make another post.

If you like shooters at all, I suggest you DL this pack of short video clips from the game. It shows you how it'll look like, is just 160MB big and could easily persuade you for/against it, me thinks.

Linky.

No, an edit won't mark the thread as updated, only a new post or a poll vote. Feel free to post on yourself if you're adding substantial new content.

More video goodness! Take a look, it's still in alpha but looks this shiny.

More to the point: there are five videos in the first post:
classic PvP
cooperation PvE (actually looks quite good for a FPS UT-based shooter)
Char customization (facial features, armor dyes etc)
More char cuatomization and openong intro/start of tutorial
Bit of sighseeing around the social place - city

So I got my beta key and I'll start downloading the game as soon as I return back home. There will be open windows for testing during the next two/three weekends, otherwise the game will still be only open to alpha-testers, as far as I know. So, basically, I should be able to play this and next weekend - the problem is, that my graphics card is currently being replaced/repaired, so I have no pc to try it on!

The game beta key is unique to one steam account, not one computer, so if one of you guys wanted to, I'd be willing to negotiate some sort of scheme that would make better use of the testing time I was offered and don't think I'm able to uphold just yet. Send me a PM if you are interested, we'll discuss the details. I'm specifically looking in Nanor's/thatbloke's direction here, but if they're not interested and anyone else is, it certainly is not a problem :)

Right, I'll lend it to blokey when I'm not in town/available. The first window will be open from Friday 25th to Monday 27th so we have quite some time on our hands anyway.
