The emails began rolling out lastnight and I have the download link below, you do not need to log in and you can simply run the launcher to get the data.

I have been reading this article about picking a server and the transfer of characters. I really think we should all have a discussion about what server we will be rolling on as it seems you only get one.

Article - http://www.arena.net/blog/choosing-and-transferring-worlds-in-guild-wars-2

Client Download - http://cloudfront.guildwars2.com/client/Gw2.exe

PS! In the closed beta they valued 2000 gems at $25 plus a transaction fee which worked out about £1, You can buy gems via cash or gold from players.

Also might be worth noting, if you have the old launcher, running that it will update itself and replace all the old files with new files.

downloading at the moment, hopefully will be done by the time i'm home from work :)

for servers, FoW and UW have a special place for me as an old hand, however i do think they will end up overpopulated because of that.
thus, for servers i'd suggest Fort Ranik, Jade Sea or Gandara (the moon fortress!)

Fort Ranik would get my vote. As I agree with the FoW and UW being over popped.

For those (like myself) on the side lines. Could you elaborate on how it is awesome and how it compares to the original ?

Thoughts appreciated.

I never really played much of Guild Wars when it was released although I did try it. I found the controls and lack of animations a deal breaker for me but Guild Wars 2 has near non of the issues I personally found in the original.

I was told from the outset that I would not enjoy the PVE content and that GW2 would purely be a PVP game, I really didn't mind that too much but I wanted PVE content as PVP can get repetitive especially if you suck at it.

My expectations were mixed until I actually got hands on, I instantly thought that the graphics and aesthetic were quite impressive although it had some optimisation issues I had to overlook but the day night cycles were something else.

I enjoyed following my main quests as they were narrated with character cutscenes and it felt that you were given an actual task to do rather than the characters tell you a story and you double checkig what your objective was.

The heart events and talent quests are really good although I did find the lack of public interaction an issue as nobody seemed to talk during these events.

The interface is clean and does the games fluid combat justice. Quest objective and local heart events are shown with markers and area of objectives within the map.

The Combat is fluid and is really quite simple initially, you have a weapon which you kind of gain skill in using. Once you kill use it enough you get more combat abilities. I played a ranger who used a bow which came in handy at long range but if you needed to melee you could quick switch to a short range weapon. I chose to use a bow coupled with a two handed sword, I was absolutely dominating in PVP of which I thought was a little imbalanced due to this fact.

Again with the combat I found it easy to take on higher mobs by using range at first then switching weapon mid battle to take them on in close quarters, I am not sure if GW1 had any of these features but I'm happy with it so far.

I have a bunch of screenshots on my steam profile page. Come take a look!

(hum) I'm delirious. I'm deserving. I'm desiring delicious meat. Doot doot dee-deet. Yeah, meat. Meat! Uh huh. Singing about meat. Aw yeah

I'm fine with wherever. As much as they'd like to claim a server is a "Reddit" server, they'll only make up a handful of the pop.

As if being on a server mainly populated by meme-spouting doodoo for brains is anything but a bad thing.
I'll be on the lookout for a sever with as little as possible pre-determined groups and as many as possible English speaking people.

My guys are pretty blasé about the whole server choice so as long as THN's server is English speaking and PVP we will roll on with you guys.

We don't specifically have to play together or guild together in game I hope... I would hate to force the foul mouthed bastards that live in the No Shirts Just Skills channel on anyone.

I would like to try it though as together it could be fun!

I belive all servers are PvP as the PvP is server V server V server, there is no world PvP on any servers as there are no factions so to speak, im voting on Desolation as its easier to remember for me :)
