Desolation - (UK Community) (UK Guilds x4) Rock Paper Shotgun, PC Gamer, Purge [EU], Guild Wars Finland, Frozen Dawn (FI), Unseelie Court (FI), Desert Foxes (FI)

looks like best bet from Zhars unofficial server make up link. Thoughts?

currently does look like people are leaning towards Desolation.
I'll give it till 6PM for anyone else to throw their oar in, yea or nae, then get an announcement up

I'm completely for Desolation as I would prefer english speaking player no offense to anyone I just don't know any other languages :p I'll probably be on as soon as possible roaming around looking all

btw what will people be playing as, I was personally thinking of playing norn and was wondering if anyone wants to go through the starter zone with me :)

Might be noteworthy as with the current information the home world only restricts you to what world you represent in WvWvW.
You can always play with other players from other worlds.

Think i will be playing a Human necro, wanna play as Sylvari but cant yet. I will probably try a char warrior or ranger aswell, and maby a norn Gardian, and a human mesmer, and then a char engineer and then a human elem and the a norn thief ect ect.

And I actually believe you and Blacker will have all those characters max level before the end of the day.

So far, fairly unimpressed. There's been nothing in the game which has made me desperately want to stick with it, and the horrible lag leaves me wondering how bad it will be come the actual launch.

Furthermore, apart from the fact it's on Tyria, I see pretty much no resemblance to the original Guild Wars. The things I liked about GW are all but gone (tactical choice of 8 skills; bright, clean graphics; smooth combat where you understood what was happening, and could form proper chains of attacks). They've updated it so it could basically be a reskin of W:AR, Rift, or LotRO. I don't know if I'm just disappointed because I was expecting 'Guild Wars 2' and instead got 'Generic MMO 67', but I feel the £40 pre-purchase was a waste, and I could easily have gone without this game until the price was dropped significantly.

I wouldnt necessarily be concerned at lag in a beta as they often leave debug code in place to help diagnose problems and it is surprising how much debug code can slow things down.

Having said that I am not playing the beta and can't say it is definitely the case that it will be better live

The CPU seems to be bearing the brunt of it, which says to me they've not optimised it as well as they could have, to have the graphical side of things actually utilising the GPU properly. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

The CPU being used a lot is something I would expect with debug code still being present, however doesnt mean it is as I said could easily be badly optimised code.

I wasnt making excuses for the game merely offering a potential hypothesis. I know little about Guild Wars and I currently have no intention of playing it so no axe to grind here :)

just FYI for those that have character names they want to use in GW2:

Guild Wars players will be considered active—thus having their Guild Wars names reserved and available to claim during Headstart Access and on launch day—if they have logged into the game at least once between January 1, 2012 and the day we build the name reservation list.
