Thank you, notch, for making everyone in the world have to go around and replace every torch they have ever made. This is the one bit of the update that doesn't make me super happy fun times. The fact that I have a MASSIVE long cave, and he is now telling me that I need to replace every torch makes me sad.

Still, it is alpha, so I can't complain. Ergo, ignore this post, I guess!

He said in an old post that all existing torches would become lanterns, he's going to implement lanterns on the old torch item ID and make a new one for the finite torches.

I'm perfectly happy with the amount of light put out at the moment. Darkness should be dark.

pitch dark caves are still a bit too light for me. The ambient part of their 3d rendering possibly needs to go a bit lower when youre pretty much in absolute blackness.
