Such an oddity, a whole case of wolf bait eaten and what is this.

Oh..... No.

Fair Solemn, you never deserved this.

I will not lie, I am not particularly distraught about the Madam's death. She ran a house of ill repute, and though human, clearly had many human flaws. The baseless accusations she continues to throw, even in death disturb me, but I am confident that you will see through them. Use logic people. If I was a wolf, and wished solemn dead, why would I have exposed this desire by voting for her lynching last night?

No, I know the enemy within to be truly devious now, with more than just animal cunning. They seek to have you lynch me by murdering my greatest detractor.

I have never once utilised her establishment, and now, I hope her young, naive charges will be able to cope without her deluded guiding hand.

So that you could knock someone else off instead if you managed to convince the townspeople/villagers to lynch her? The result of the vote wasn't what you wanted, so you did the deed yourself? However I do hope to god that this isn't true.

I currently have suspicions of D. First stealing from a dead mans' body, and the last I heard, was still in debt of a fair bit of money to Solemn. Whether this is enough a reason to kill, I do not know, but a theif nonetheless which isn't a character I'd want to be around.

I'm going for a long day fishing on the loch today*. Wheres that bob. Need to get me some fish bait and some fresh air. Someone should really clean up these bodies. In hindsight, I guess it was a bit silly to lynch Dr. Agon so early on :S

* long day fishing = going to see mortgage adviser, viewing properties and driving to aylesbury tonight, so am unlikely to be able to post later today. sorry guys!

Look at the evidence. That bloke that died last night was already tried by the court of public opinion. My accusation of solemn was based upon my fears that she was the beast among us, nothing more. Your argument holds no water. Far less even than that raggedy fishing boat you've hired to cruise the loch.

As for your accusations against citizen D, well, they are baseless. Madam Solemn was found dead among THE REMAINS OF HER FINANCES. There is no way a roguish character like D could resist stealing those glinting coins after committing her murder. No, he is guilty of many things, thievery, knavery, chicken pestering and cheating at cards, but of murder? He is innocent, I have no doubt.

No, your accusations come from the fact that yesterday he made his suspicions upon your character known. This trouble in our fair Hamlet started only upon your arrival, on your 'fishing trip'. You claim to be hunting a monster, what better cover for a monster itself? Today you have the look of a hunted animal about you, wild and cornered. You attempt to flee to the safety of the Loch, and attempt to remain unnoticed, but you cannot hide from me, I name you vile cur! Ho, Hellspawn! I shall see you dead before this day is out Wol, you craven bastard! Who's with me?

"Have I e'er told ye about the rule o' three? No? Well, let me tell ye, then. The rule o' three is quite simple, really. If yer do somethin' once an' it don't work, it be just bad luck. If yer do somethin' twice and it still don't work, it be a coincidence. But when ye look at doin' the same thing a third time ye should ask yerself whether the first an' the second were actually bad judgement and ye should change yer tack, maybe even sail into the wind a bit."

He scratches his three day old beard, pondering carefully.

"Well, I've been thinkin' about what has transpired and each night I have called for a death. First Dr Agon, then thatbloke, and neither has been the foulness that faces us. But each time, if I remember, that Panda was instrumental in sealing their fates and now he lines up yet another for the mob. Six of us left, four fine upstanding citizens and two devils in human clothin'. If, this night, we choose wrong then another o' us will fall on the morrow an' it'll be them two against us two an' our village will truly be lost."

"It vexes me, greatly, this problem, but at this last turn we must stand true an' firm. I put to you that this Panda before us is as like as not the demon Wendigo. If not, then I hope I die this night for the morrow will be a bloodbath I shiver to even countenance."

I never spoke for that bloke to be lynched. I think we have located our other demon people. Remember that bloke's last words:

Keep..... your eyes.......... on that drunken sailor............................

And then there is this:

Six of us left, four fine upstanding citizens and two devils in human clothin'. If, this night, we choose wrong then another o' us will fall on the morrow an' it'll be them two against us two an' our village will truly be lost."

Six? Surely seven:

Bob the bait shiop owner
Traxata the Forester
Large D of the Dale
Pan-Da the herdsman
Wol, the visitor (and beast)
Captain Storm
and Drae.

He seeks to twist you, and make you afeared, for he knows his time is short. Let him who hath understanding reckon the nature of the beast, for it is a human nature! Captain Storm, the drunken sot is not what he appears. I suspect he has been turned into a monster by chance, as it was he who leant Wol that boat. I know this is the truth.
Wol must be destroyed tonight, but Captain Storm is his foul demon spawned accomplice, and must be cast out!

You make a fair point. I only was shown the blood stained letter she wrote, I was not party at the scene of the incident unlike some others seem to have been, so was unaware about her earnings.

This trouble in our fair Hamlet started only upon your arrival,

Exactly the same as elDiablo, and Dr. Agon.

"elDiablo, the traveller who came to the village not 4 days ago"
"Ah ... I see, you don't know me yet. I'm Dr. Agon the new owner of the villages crematory and funeral office."

I think their current demises speak for themselves. Maybe your methods and your judgement are a bit hindered there Mr Panda.

Fair citizens, do not let them goad you. I am all that stands between you and the ruin of all you hold dear.

A friend who shall remain nameless has a prophetic ability. One allowing him to know the true nature within men's souls. After the horrific events with Dr. Agon he tested me, and I was not found wanting. He revealed to me that vile interloper Wol is a beast in human skin, and has a ravening hunger for human flesh. I beg of you, if we remove the treat of Wol tonight you will see me proved true. Steel your hearts, and do what has to be done. If I am wrong, you can easily still lynch me tomorrow, for you would still outnumber them. That would be a mistake, for I am pure of heart and purpose. My only mistake was to call for Dr. Agon's death. Use logic my friends, and drive out Wol and Captain Storm, who has shown his true nature by siding with the beast.

We can still be free! No more innocents have to die.

"Ah, now, 'tis true that my countin' has gone astray. Seven there are of us. Seven indeed. This might change the field, a little, though let that not distract from the deadly purpose we 'ave before us. Perhaps, then, the morrow will not yet be the bloodbath I fear and we have just a day longer to survive. Still, I put this to ye all: better to end one of these beasts sooner than to suffer their claws for longer."

"Indeed, it is possible that Panda is not to blame and that I be falsely accusin' 'im. But I do see this: Wol has now been targetted on two separate days but with particular attention from both Panda and D. Why is this, you ask? I could not quite say, but it does feel to me as if a target 'ad been selected aforetimes but this catch could not be landed."

"Then again, perhaps we three who accuse an' attribute an' asperse on each other's character are truly the righteous an' the quiet ones are actually bein' the true devils after all..."

A nameless "friend" eh.

You are clearly delusional Mr Panda, for you have no friends.
</inside joke>

How can you be sure that they are true of mind, and that they are not trying to keep their enemies close?

"'ere's another thing fer ye all: how do ye trust a man who says 'I know a man, who told me...'? As everyone knows, a prophet's visions come by night as they dream an' two nights 'ave passed wi' no word. As a man o' words an' no small measure o' action, I'd expect that a prophet might dream o' me, but o' course he could not speak out in this place fer he would be Wendigo's next meal. By that same measure, I'd expect that a prophetic man might also divine the true nature of Panda o'er there. If not, then let me ask just this: if one of ye be prophetic, find a way to tell us the name of the devil before it's too late. 'Tis better to find Wendigo than to find yer loyal friends, in this dark hour."

Dr Drae

In Cryo Sleep
Drae, having watched the scene unfold, after walking last night's wench to her establishment this morning, steps out of the shadows.

"I am willing to place my trust in Panda. If indeed he does have a friend with the Sight, I'm sure they would want to remain shrouded in darkness, lest these demons shroud him in his own blood. I regret sincerely my most terrible of choices last night, but this evil must be banished from our fair village, or we will all suffer the consequences."

Walking towards the table of Solemns last accounting, he places 5 gold coins on it.

"Though I'd prefer it if Panda were to pay more respect to Madam Solemn, I vote that the demon Wol burns tonight, in the hopes that the foul spawn responsible for such strife in our village will know our pain."

I would say although her words strike with an obvious logic to be wary. As has been shown on too many occasions evil does not show its face plain and strong. It doesn't stand in a foolish human manner and make brash accusations. It waits while there are many that stand in it's way. Subtle are it's actions, unnoticed. Allow the humans to squabble as I warned you all not to on the first day. Once the mood turns against someone they vote knowing that their vote will be lost in amongst the louder human voices. I say look to the quiet, the subtle. I vote for Wol

It is day 3. The count stands at 3 votes for Wol (Panda, Drae, Bob), 2 for Panda (Ronin, Wol), and 1 for Traxata (D) with 1 vote unaccounted for.

Looking at previous days...

Day 0:

elDiablo (killed by wolves)

Day 1:

0 for Gombol ([strike]Dragon[/strike]), 5 for Dragon (Panda, D, Ronin, Wol, Gombol), 3 for Panda (thatbloke, Dragon, Solemn), 1 for Bob (Bob), 1 for Traxata (Traxata), 2 for no one (Drae, Xarlaxas)

Dragon (lynched by villagers)
Gombol (killed by wolves)

Day 2:

1 for Panda ([strike]thatbloke[/strike], Solemn), 4 for thatbloke (Ronin, Drae, Wol, Traxata), 2 for Wol (D, Bob), 1 for Ronin (thatbloke), 1 for Solemn (Panda)

Xarlaxas (death by godly intervention)
thatbloke (lynched by villagers)
Solemn (killed by wolves)

Strike outs are votes that were either retracted or over-ruled by following votes. All deaths so far have been human.

Looked at differently:

Bob - Bob, Wol, Wol
D - Dragon, Wol, Traxata
Drae - no one, thatbloke, Wol
Dragon - Panda, dead, dead
Gombol - Dragon, dead, dead
Panda - Dragon, Solemn, Wol
Ronin - Dragon, thatbloke, Panda
Solemn - Panda, Panda, dead
thatbloke - Panda, Ronin, dead
Traxata - Traxata, thatbloke, ?
Wol - Dragon, thatbloke, Panda
Xarlaxas - no one, no one, dead

...

"Y'know, I been thinkin' pretty carefully about all this an' I just realised a thing. Everyman who has voted to lynch that there Panda is dead or likely soon will be. Everyman. Now I have to admit that the simple fact is that me an' Wol 'ave been votin' the same way without any consultation an' our votes 'ave been dead wrong each time, but if ye things about it carefully an' sees the pattern, voting against Panda results in yer death."

Dr Drae

In Cryo Sleep
"It is true that most of the people who have died have voted for Panda, but this evidence is hardly conclusive. Only one of the people who voted for Panda's death was killed by the foul spawn that roams our village at night. The others were our own doing. It appears that you are turning the evidence against Panda for your own uses Captain..."

The drunken old coot seems rather lucid at this moment doesn't he? Almost as if, now we have him cornered, the facade has begun to slip.

Trust me people. Wol and Captain Storm are the enemy here, the blight upon our fair township.

What the captain says is true, there is no point denying it. He makes a good case. However, if you take a long hard look, the case is far less watertight than it seems. - I'd have thought the 'good' captain would understand the need for good caulking...

Whilst my detracters are indeed deceased, look closer people, I beg of you. We have lynched 2 innocents so far. Yes, I led the charge against Dr. Agon, but i did not participate in the lynching of that bloke. Yet who HAS participated in both lynchings? Why, the only people to participate in BOTH lynchings, are, surprise surprise.
and Captain Storm. They might claim they voted in this way on pure coincidence, but that is an easy lie to refute: When the rest of us were panicked, throwing wild accusations at all and sundry, the two of them were in cahoots, carefully planning this town's demise.

They are the evil that must be expunged.

If you so chose, you will not be forced to lynch me. I will go to the gallows proudly, with my head held high, knowing that my sacrifice will expose the snakes in the grass, the sharks in the deep, the butchers in the shadows, the hellspawn in our midst. My family will be safe, and I shall be at peace, knowing my one, and only mistake was to call for the blood of poor innocent Dr. Agon. I will not curse you, for you have been led astray by a most cunning advisary, who's plot to frame me has been devious indeed.

If you stand firm with myself, and Drae, we can begin to clean up this horrible mess, and bring the culprit wol to swift, and sharp justice.

If wol turns out to be human, well, you will be free to lynch me tomorrow.

If he turns out to be a beast, well, then you see I am the leader this town needs, to finish of this dirty business.

If I am not lynched tonight, well, I may be safe in the night, since to murder me would only convince you all of Captain Storm's guilt, and together, with great numbers, we can roust (and roast) the vile creature tomorrow. Alternatively, well, in a fit of pique, he may murder me anyway, and you will all be safe for another night.
