Nobunaga declares war on me everytime i play. The last time i played i had a huge army hanging around guarding my borders then Nobunaga asks "See you have a large army are you going to attack?" And i was all like "no dont be silly, you're just being paranoid." Then Nobunaga attacked the two city states i was allied with and pledged to protect. So i had to go to war with him and then he accused me of breaking my word. Now all the cultured races wont talk to me because they think i'm bloodthirsty!

Yeah, I had a similar problem when the Aztecs then Songhai declared war on me, I crushed them but then the Chinese and Arabs said I was bloodthirsty and tried to kill me.

So I built a spaceship and escaped!

Played the demo of this.... Roman's seem to be very backstabbing . He convinced me it would be a good idea to go to war with Egypt... next thing I know he's backed out and made friends with him, but for me to do the same would cost me shed loads!!!!

What's that all about!

Plus Egyptians can build wonders 20% faster?????? imba?

Still want to buy it though although think it would take way too much of my time up and playing direct X 9 version... grrr.

So I played the demo and must say I quite liked it. There are a few things I dont get, though - like Vienna wanted me to connect our capitals by road, so I did it - but nothing happened and they still had the same message about wanting it... Plus in the 100 turn limit I haven´t gone to war with anyone, so I cant comment on that. Oh, and automated explorers shouldnt trespass on city state land, stupid gits.

That all sai, I might be getting it later.

Not that I have the monies to buy any new games at the moment...

Aye, I'd say the demo is pretty good for showing you what the game proper is like.

I agree that explorers shouldn't tresspass as it is a real pain!

At the moment I'm conquering the world as Japan, already crushed three empires.

I'm finding it real hard to actually win the game. You know rather than simply having more points than everyone else i would like one of the special victories (diplomacy, military, scientific, cultural) but the game always ends before i can manage any of them. Even if i specialise right from the start i find its turn 500 before i know it and whoever has the most wonders wins.

I often get the space (science) victory. I think you need to figure out from the start one (or maybe two) victory conditions that you want to aim for and then aim for those and nothing else.

I know Xarlaxas has managed a cultural victory at one point... that and the conquest one are certainly the hardest ones to get in my opinion

I've had a conquest and a science; the conquest is mega easy if you go Germany and save up captured barbarian warriors. I'm currently trying to culture it up with Ghandi, but having limited success. There are a few key cultural policy paths to home in on, but the Indian special trait is m!nce.

Oh, and while we're at it, can we try and get a big THN game arranged sometime soon, maybe this weekend or over the October week?

might I suggest we start at 1pm This Sunday? break between 4pm-6pm for people to get food, etc. then continue at 6pm until an agreeable stop point.

Will likely put the game on the fastest time mode available as the last MP game I started of this took 4 hours and we didnt even get out of the BC years.

I'm off Sat Sunday, so either of those days work for me, but I regularly work nights so if it were to be something that continued during the week I'd have to sit out.

That sounds fine to me, blokester. The problem with having huge games (as we've discovered through experience) is that we can never find another time where we're all available again without anyone missing/anyone else turning up that wants to play. Hopefully if it's on the fastest game mode we can get a game done in a night. Hopefully!

Oh and by the way, if we're picking empires and not randomising, I bagsy Nobunaga. Hands off the Jappies, chappies.

Aye, I'm playing it on Prince too, seeing as that's the difficulty where there's supposed to be no bonuses for either side.

At the moment I'm trying a conquest victory but Siam has expanded to control an entire continent and is really scary. . . . Even though I'm playing Japan.

So far I've been able to get Research and Cultural victories, I want to get Conquest and Diplomacy!

That's happened to me in my current game... is now just me and him but because I've taken so long to clear out my island, I'm a whole era behind him in terms of research... this makes me worry about getting nuked in the near-ish future...
