SMP health/death/fighting update is out. However, "The lighting still isn’t right, I need to rewrite it. I think I know what the problem is now, though. Or rather, I know what ONE problem is." which means server memory whorage is probably still going to be a bit of an issue.

yeah couple of mates have servers running and are seeing the same issue, but getting around it by limiting the JVM to 400MB of ram.

here's to hoping the guy he has brought in to look at server stuff can reign in the memory usage a bit

IF: We tried playing with elD's config file, I haven't tried setting it's min / max to 400mb though (max 1024) which kept seeing it shoot upto 1300-1400, ignoring it's variables

When i was doing it, its a command line thing you pass to the java binary, rather than a config param you have in the minecraft config.

elD had originally set Xms to be 1024 as well, this did not make a difference to the JVM as it was STILL at 1400M. So again bloke, you fail (and so does Wol this time!)

I dropped it down to 512 to see if it was being buggy shit about having the minimum and the maximum set to the same number, but it didn't make a difference to the JVM.

This is the reason our MC server is still off.

Introducing BetterLight (formerly the AO part of Mr M's Mods)

1.5 - Ambient Occlusion is now known as BetterLight, which is basically a complete rewrite of AO but now incorporating light smoothing. Plus side: should be less buggy, hopefully, maybe. Looks nicer. Minus side: currently BetterGrass requires it in order to run. Still, shiny things!
