Supreme Commander from what I read is mainly designed for Dual and Quad core machines. so if anyone has one this is a good game for it

for those of you who havn't yet pre-ordered your copy of SC you have a choice for the collectors edition as all 3 factions pack are now almost the same price (UEF is £26) and can be found at the following locations:
Aeon
Cybran
UEF

the difference between the different faction packs is that they each have a different poster and a postcard of the faction to which the pack belongs i'm not sure whether the DVD has faction specific content or not and the same with the tech tree on the 2nd poster

and for your enjoyment highlights of a multiplayer game between some of the staff
Here

after watching that all I can say is I like killing the Commander even more now :D

It is a little known fact that envy beams can tractor in other peoples equipment. Enjoy your computer while you can, Buffalo.

Supreme Commander demo is scheduled for release today at 09:30 PST which I believe is 17:30 GMT.

I for one will be downloading this as I'll not get the chance to play it before I go away to France.

I'm just hoping it supports multiplayer.

*edit*

It seems that it doesn't support multiplayer. Boo.

Thanks! But I don't think I'm going to download this myself. As HotStuff always says, the demo really takes the shine off some of the aspects of the full game when it eventually arrives. Plus, I've already been convinced into buying it from what I've seen so far. Let us know how you get on with it once you give it a spin!

Oh, and especially let us know how well your PC can handle it! Something I'm anxious about, myself.

Aye, I'm with Mr Shima. Already pre-ordered it, and wouldn't want to play it to death before hand, like CoH :).

Well it's the only way I'm going to be able to play it before I go away, so I think I'll still download this.

Haha, well since you'll be scooting off to snowboard in France for 3 weeks and will miss the initial multiplayer, I think it's fitting that you'll be the first to actualy play it :D.

(Don't forget to check your passport ;))

Well I downloaded this and played it yesterday evening and it ran fine.

Admittedly it was on a very small map but it didn't show any signs of struggling. Will let you know more as I do.

Get a job Nonar :). You could get a decent Core2Duo for about £70~100. (If you know where to look)

you can get the lowest spec one yes, however that means you have to have the correct spec mobo, that means you have to have ddr2 RAM. and depending on the age of your current setup may mean getting a new gfx card as well. Also if your going to do its worth doing properly. not worth upgrading for as cheap as possible as your more likely to have issues later.

Going to cost a lot more than £100

Also have just ordered it, haven't had a good RTS in a long while be good to get the old strategy muscles back in action.

one thing i found annoying was the little "special ability" buttons that some units have

for example those tanks that shoot the nano dart and can be made to target either air or ground targets

after regrouping lotf of them from battle i end up with a huge pile of tanks, where some are targetting land and some are targetting air but i cant make them all target land because it just toggles them all instead :P

there should be two buttons so you can get an entire mixed group to target land or air, otherwise i have to go around and click on each individual tank and change the setting...kinda sucks when you have tons of them :|
