According to Eurogamer:

Eurogamer said:
Mythic plans to open Warhammer Online beta testing from 7th September ahead of its full release on the 18th.

I suspect beta keys will be somewhat limited. I anticipate that Fileplanet will offer some, as will MMORPG.com (probably).

They've not announced anything on the official war-europe site, about the open beta yet. However they did announce it on the American site.

If the 7th of September is right, I'll be on holiday when it's first realeased :/. I've been waiting so long for this game.

There are some pretty awesome trailers on Eurogamer, that are well worth a watch just to get you in the mood for the game :D:

Also this great interview with Paul Barnett (Creative Director) Quote: "Our game is like Shampoo" :):

If you haven't already pre-ordered, you may find the following beta review to be of interest. Be warned, it's a huge long review, almost mightier than even one of my posts.

Well, the early access dates have been provided (link to: Eurogamer), but if you didn't pre-order your copy of WAR from one of a peculiarly select bunch of retailers then you'll be joining in on the same start day as everyone else. The EA Store is apparently the only place for the UK. That said, doesn't seem especially important to me. After all, it's not about who's first to the level cap, is it? :p

Just to necro this thread as WAR has just this minute opened its open beta servers! :D

Im still trying to get through the hideously slow login pages to actually register my key and start the painfully slow 200Mb patch which follows, but I'll get awesome screenshots and things once im in.

The English server list is as follows:
Karag Dron
Karag Orrud
Nehekhara
Karak-Hirn
Karak-Norn
Alarille
Burlok
Ellyrioon

Although Im not sure at this stage which of those will be PvP/RP etc, it would be cool if anyone else on THN with an open beta could pipe up and we could get on the same server :)

One thing I was interested in was this levelling via RvR combat, sounds like a breath of fresh air. I'll probably mess about with a fair few characters during open beta, and then after the wipe, and once early access begins, I'll start a character Im most interested in...

Since 13:00 GMT I've managed to create a new account and... Well thats it.
I logged in once, and clicked to enter my beta key, but that returned a 414 and I was back to square 1.

It is the most terrible launch I've seen, and looking around forums I'm definitely not the only one. I dont expect to be able to play until at least tomorrow night, and I intend to sit at my PC without sleep until I get in.

Heh, heres to hoping they learn from the beta and get it straight for the main launch :p

Seriously, how did they think roughly 500,000 people would all be able to register an account, log a beta key, download a 200Mb patch, then wait to create characters AT THE SAME TIME. Its ludicrous! They're basically suffering a mass Denial of Service due to the sheer weight of people on their server :(

I just joined the beta today, looks like I missed all the problems from the launch by being on holiday :p.

If anyone's interested I'm playing on the EN-RVR server (Can't remember the exact name of it) although the beta only lasts 2 more days so theres not much point.

It'd be good if we could get a headcount of all the people who have bought it and are wanting to play together on the same server when the game is actually launched.

The release servers have now been announced, across the four different game type combinations.

Eurogamer said:
There are four server types: Core, Open RVR, Roleplay, and Roleplay/Open RVR.

Core servers follow the standard game design, with unrestricted player-versus-player combat limited to Scenario maps and designated parts of the game world, and players can only fight each other when flagged for RVR (Realm-versus-Realm).

Open RVR servers offer permanent RVR flagging everywhere except the first-tier starting area. However, it's still the case that you can only fight players of the opposing realm.

Roleplay servers "are for those players who enjoy truly immersing themselves into the Warhammer lore by acting as their characters' personalities in-game. Players who opt to participate on a Role Playing server must agree to far more specific rules regarding naming, and it is suggested that players would adhere to WAR or high fantasy conduct and behaviour".

European server list

Personally, I think Ill be aiming for a Core rules server.

All the Beta servers at the moment are set to Core. It seems fair enough tbh, it just means you need to que for a scenario in order to fight RvR. I would either probably go for Core or Open RvR.

See, I have no intention of role-playing, even though I'll chose a non-ridiculous name, nor do I want to be ganked in the middle of doing something else because that'll reduce the interest in playing for Rojaws and that'll therefore fail for me.

The core rules servers, English, European, are as follows:

  1. Axe Bite Pass
  2. Karag Dron
  3. Karag Orrud
  4. Karak Eight Peaks
  5. Karak Ungor
  6. Karak-Azgal
  7. Karak-Hirn
  8. Karak-Izor
  9. Karak-Norn
  10. Karak-Vlag
  11. Karaz-a-Karak

Not sure there's really any reason to choose one over the other, unless someone knows which server the smacktards are going to?
